I received my Ph.D in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Mississippi. I am an Associate Professor at the University of New England with more than 12 years of experience in the synthesis of small molecules with biological activity. I had mastered several techniques related to medicinal chemistry including organic synthesis, structural elucidation, isolation and purification of organic compounds. My experience with synthesis of small molecules includes the design and synthesis of dual PPARgamma agonists/ AT1 antagonists and stilbenes analogs as PPARgamma agonists. Through the years, I also had the opportunity to expand my area of expertise and worked with the synthesis of natural-based anticancer compounds and pesticides. Currently my research focuses on the modification of natural products in the search of novel anticancer and and anti-infective agents. I have successfully mentored Masters, Ph.D and Pharm. D students which have resulted in poster presentations at international meetings, grant applications and manuscript publications.
