This page describes how to set up a new docking.org site, part of the worldwide ZINC network.

Approaches

  • 1. You can set up each machine separately, download each package separately, and install it. We list how to do this here.
  • 2. You can download a virtual machine image containing a "starter cluster". One installed at your site, you can migrate functions off of the starter virtual machine one by one.

The advantage of the second approach is that you are up and running more quickly. The advantage of the first approach is that by putting it together yourself from scratch, you will have a better grasp of what the component parts are and how they interact. Almost for sure, you'll also have more recent versions of the software.

Approach 1 - brick by brick

A. write grant

B. purchase hardware

C. install hardware

D. configure network =

E. configure system software

F. Take a deep breath

G. acquire and install third party scientific software

H. acquire and install docking.org software

I. configure docking.org software

Approach 2 - unbundling a virtual image

NB write grant, acquire hardware, same as above.

A. acquire virtual image

B. install virtual image

C. unbundle virtual machine

D. update with latest software
